CHEER UP UNIVERSE |
CATS RULE THE WORLD...? |
By Walter G. Willaert If you love that rare element known as comic science-fiction (and I surely do) you won't want to miss Walter Willaert's hilarious report of those two little space-alien guys called "Shmo." (Singular or plural, same word.) Willaert, a native Belgian, takes these two little twerps on a whirlwind tour of the USA that is enough to leave the country -- or at least those parts visited by the Shmo -- in somewhat of a whirl. Shmik and Shmil, however, remain cool as they quest for 'souvenirs" to take back to their grumpy boss. Good luck, guys. It's tough getting a smile out of him. But smiles will come easy to readers of this fast-moving and laugh-producing book. |
Tara starts life as a tiny orphaned kitten lost in the bush. She is rescued by Shaun who adopts
her and becomes the most important person in her life. Tara relates her experience of life growing up on a smallholding in Namibia, Africa. She learns that the world around her is fascinating yet a cruel and dangerous place. This is her story, and it takes you into the world of cats the same way "Black Beauty" takes you into the world of horses -- a must for those who love animals, especially cats. |

HEAVEN'S REALM This is a gently comic imaginary week's visit to
that beautiful place beyond The Pearly Gates. You may encounter some surprises. And some laughs. After all, without laughter,
it would be Hell. |
The author reports having no objectivity about this book after working on it for 30-some years. Here are observations from those who are more objective: |
A bit of good fortune brought us this unique book just in time for Halloween fun. It's not just a book -- it's also a Ouija board! Yes, for your Halloween party -- or any other time -- you just read this book on how to use the O-board, then, lay the book flat, turn it over so the cover is up, and it's a Ouija board. And it works! |
NEWSPAPER STORIES THE EDITORS DIDN'T LIKE... A book of newspaper stories by one who was there, for many golden years. Some stories have a dash of fantasy -- of course the editors didn't like them. They were written for you, dear reader. Some others were quite factual, enough so that the editors liked them and published them on the Page Opposite, meaning the page opposite the Editorial Page. That was quite an honor, to share space with Erma Bombeck and Art Buchwald. Hope you enjoy both varieties as much as I enjoyed living the newspaper life.
Above, the book's back cover is a shot of some of the people in the Baltimore News American city room on the Last Day, when photographer Joe Kohl called, "Just look unemployed, not unemployable."Order HERE.
